We want this site to work for you, whatever you are using to read it.

That includes screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnifiers and phones. We are not finished, so what follows is an honest account of where this site stands rather than a claim that everything is perfect.

What we aim for

We work towards WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard most public guidance points to. The site runs on Squarespace, so some of what you see is ours and some of it is theirs.

What works today

• Body text meets the 4.5 to 1 contrast ratio against its background, and large headings meet 3 to 1. This was measured page by page, not estimated.
• Almost every photograph carries a written description, so a screen reader can tell you what is in it.
• Decorative background images are marked as decorative, so they are skipped rather than read out as file names.
• Links in the navigation and the footer are at least 24 pixels tall, so they can be tapped reliably on a phone.
• Most pages open with a real headline that names the page, and headings are marked up as headings rather than styled text, so you can navigate by them.

What we are still fixing

• Three pages do not yet have a headline that names them. They are being rewritten.
• One line on the home page is a picture of text rather than text. It has a written description, but it cannot be resized or selected the way real text can.
• Heading levels skip a step on two pages, which makes navigating by headings less predictable than it should be.
• Booking is handled by Square, a separate service, so how accessible that flow is is not fully in our hands. If any part of booking online is difficult, contact us and we will take the booking for you directly.

If something does not work

Tell us what happened and we will help you directly, then fix the page. You do not need to know the technical reason, and you do not need to apologise for asking.
